Destroyed and buried under volcanic ash and pumice in the terrible eruption of Mount Vesuvius in AD79, the old Pompeii has been immortal since then.
From the beginning of the excavation in the middle of the 18th century, so many evidences and treasures were discovered that it is possible to see how they used to live there. The amphitheater, Temple of Apollo, Temple of Jupiter, House of the Faun, House of Menandro, House of the Vettii, Villa of Mysteries are the main place to visit. New excavations still increase the patrimony of this unique site thanks to a number of archaeologists who keep on working at this area.
This place boasts millions of tourists from all the world which appreciate the well-preserved ruins, the architecture of the houses and the famous artistic techniques.
The legendary “God’s paths” is extraordinary naturalistic itinerary, at about 500 meters upon sea level.
Hills and mountains seem like precipitating directly into the sea creating an unique panorama which shows both the gulf of Naples ad the gulf of Salerno.
The upland path starts in Bomerano,in Agerola, and arrives in Nocelle and then in Positano. It’s a rare place, in the middle of the Amalfi Coast, really frequented by tourists, but it’s also a demanding path: there are 1700 steps from Nocelle to Positano, luckly downhill
